Architecture Day, Tile Layers' Championships, Young Parquet Floor Layers' Championships, accompanied by the Acanthus Aureus and MTP Gold Medal award ceremony.
The finals of the 3rd Polish Tile Layers' Championships are held all day long as part of the Master Tile Layer's Day. All fair visitors are encouraged to vote for the most beautiful competition entry. The winners will be announced and prizes will be presented on 21 January.
Moreover, the qualifying round has begun for the 8th edition of the European Young Parquet Floor Layers' Championships, which is scheduled to take place in May 2010 in Poznań. Parquet layers from around a dozen countries are fighting for the trophy of the European Champion. For Poland it will be the fifth opportunity to compete in this challenge, and the second one to organize it. During the two-day event, contestants are expected to lay tiles on a designated floor area of 1 square metre. The jury evaluates all works and selects the winner.
During yesterday's press conference organised by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Under-Secretaries of State Olgierd Dziekoński and Piotr Styczeń complemented Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie on its functionality and professionalism. As they emphasised, "the fair grounds are becoming more and more beautiful", their infrastructure being constantly developed and exhibition pavilions being renovated. They also recognised the fact that the MTP serves an important educational function and is accessible "to everyone", including the disabled.
At 2 pm today, Acanthus Aureus trophies and MTP Gold medals were presented in the Trade Fair Centre.
