The 24th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP24) and the 14th session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP14) and the 1st (part 3) Conference of the Parties serving as a meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement (CMA1.3) was held in Katowice on 3-14 December 2018. The conference was attended, among others, by Arnold Schwarzenegger and David Attenborough.
30 thousands representatives of all Parties to the Convention (196 countries and the EU) could use 8 conference areas featuring plenary and press conference rooms, meeting rooms and several hundred other premises, including offices, computer centers, places for work and relaxation.
Preparations for the conference began on 28 September. For the purposes of the conference temporary halls with the surface area of almost 40 thousand m2 were constructed. The construction and arrangement of the area of the conference was implemented by almost 2,000 people − employees and contractors of MTP, 20 forklift trucks and a construction crane, while construction components and conference equipment were delivered in 400 shipments.
COP24 in numbers:
- 45 thousand m2 of flooring which was used to line the corridors and conference rooms
- 5 km of fencing for the conference area
- 2,000 LED luminaires
- 350 door for temporary structures
- 5,800 receivers for simultaneous translation used by the conference participants
- 40 thousand liters of water drank by the participants
- 100,000 biodegradable cups used by the meeting participants
The Climate Conference COP24 was supported by more than 500 people, mostly from Katowice and the Silesian agglomeration. Their tasks varied greatly from working with the media through ICT activities, registration of participants, conference room service to interpreting and other support activities.
Poznan International Fair was involved in organizing the UN climate summit for the third time. In December 2008, Poznan International Fair and the Poznań Congress Center located on MTP fairgrounds hosted the 14th UN Climate Change Conference on climate change. MTP's highest organisational quality was then appreciated by the representatives of the United Nations, the Polish government and the participants of the event. The Ministry of the Environment entrusted MTP with the implementation of the most important part of preparations for the next UN Climate Summit − COP19, which was held at the National Stadium in Warsaw in 2013.

Its portfolio includes trade fairs, cultural and sports events as well as congresses and conferences, which annually attract over 1.1 million visitors. MTP fairgrounds hosted events such as the FDI World Dental Congress, Directions EMEA or the meeting of representatives of Microsoft Dynamics NAV partners from around the world, the National Assembly, events within the framework of Polish Presidency of the EU and the European Taize meeting.
