Local Leaders Unite at the 5th European Local Government Forum – Local Trends 2025
The European Local Government Forum once again brings together local government leaders, representatives of central administration, business, academia, and the media to discuss the future of local communities in the face of digital, climate, and social challenges.

“Local Trends is a congress dedicated not only to central and local administration but also to business,” said Filip Bittner, Vice President of Grupa MTP, emphasizing the importance of creating a space for sharing experiences and best practices among municipalities, businesses, and experts.
During the opening session, local government representatives highlighted the importance of cooperation and balance in the country’s development.

“Every local government is a sovereign entity, but not an isolated island. We are destined to cooperate at every level and build development networks,” stressed Wojciech Jankowiak, Deputy Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region.
Speakers from Pomerania and Sopot also underlined the need for collective action and shared responsibility for development.
“I see local governments as key drivers of sustainable development. We have allocated a quarter of EU funds from our budget to joint initiatives – this ensures lasting, sustainable progress,” noted Leszek Bonna, Deputy Marshal of the Pomeranian Region.

“The program of this year’s Congress addresses all the challenges we face – tackling disinformation, rebuilding trust in institutions, and strengthening cooperation with the European Union. Only synergy leads to effective action,” said Magdalena Czarzyńska-Jachim, Mayor of Sopot.
Speaking about security and resilience of local communities amid geopolitical threats, Jacek Jaśkowiak, Mayor of Poznań, remarked:
“We have already seen acts of sabotage by the Russian Federation within EU countries. We can learn from Ukrainian cities how to defend against disinformation and ensure the safety of residents. The wartime threats there demonstrate how crucial the local level of action truly is.”

Local Trends 2025 is a platform where local governments, national administration, and business come together to shape a shared future – focused on security, transformation, solidarity, and shared responsibility for development.
