Local Trends 2025 in Poznań – Local Governments Facing Digital, Climate, and Security Challenges
On October 13–14, 2025, Poznań will host the fifth edition of the European Local Government Forum – Local Trends, an event that brings together leaders of local governments, central administration, business, academia, and the media. It is here that the future of local communities is debated in the context of technological, climate, and geopolitical change.

This year’s program includes five key thematic tracks: digitization and cybersecurity, development strategies, infrastructure and municipal services, climate challenges, and resident safety. Each track will feature debates and workshops showcasing both the challenges and best practices from across Poland and Europe.

Topics to be addressed include:
-
the role of artificial intelligence and cyber resilience in local government operations,
-
a polycentric development strategy for Poland and the effects of financial reforms,
-
energy transition and modernization of district heating,
-
counteracting drought and water shortages,
-
civil protection systems and critical infrastructure security.
The event is organized by Grupa MTP and the Center for Strategic Thought, with the City of Poznań, the City of Sopot, the Wielkopolska Region, and the Pomeranian Region as official hosts. Local government partners include the Union of Polish Metropolises, the Association of Polish Cities, and the Association of Polish Regions.
The strategic partner of this year’s edition is InPost, joined by partners such as T-Mobile, Polska Bezgotówkowa, and the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
Senior Policy Forum
As part of Local Trends 2025, the 2nd edition of the Senior Policy Forum will also take place – a nationwide event dedicated to modern and effective solutions in the field of senior policy.
The Forum will feature debates, best practice presentations, and expert panels, creating a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience. Its goal is to support local governments and social partners in developing coherent, innovative, and effective local senior policies.
Local Trends is a forum for cooperation and dialogue that has a tangible impact on shaping public policies and supporting the sustainable development of local communities.
