POLECO 2026 in Poznań: Cybersecurity, the Deposit Return System, and the Future of Waste Management
Can water utilities and other municipal facilities be hacked? How will the deposit return system work in practice? And where does waste go when it is transported across borders? These are just some of the topics that will be explored at this year’s POLECO trade fair. From October 6–8, 2026, the POLECO International Environmental Protection Fair will bring together professionals from the environmental protection and municipal services sectors in Poznań.

A Meeting Place for the Entire Municipal Services Industry
For years, POLECO has been one of Poland’s leading events in the environmental protection sector. The trade fair provides a platform for showcasing technologies and fostering dialogue between public administration, local governments, businesses, academia, and industry organizations.
Every year, it attracts representatives of local governments, municipal companies, waste management facilities, water and wastewater utilities, and industrial companies—in other words, professionals responsible for investment, infrastructure development, and the implementation of new technologies.
Exhibitors include manufacturers and suppliers of solutions for waste management, recycling, urban cleanliness and maintenance, and cybersecurity for municipal infrastructure.
Topics That Affect Us All
The accompanying event program focuses on the sector’s most pressing challenges, many of which extend far beyond the industry itself.
Discussions will cover cybersecurity for municipal facilities and the protection of critical infrastructure, including how to safeguard water supplies, electricity, and waste collection services against cyberattacks.
Other key topics include the deposit return system, cross-border waste shipments, the development of biogas plants, and waste collection and recycling methods. The program will also feature discussions on climate change adaptation, the circular economy, and the implementation of climate policies.

New Technologies for Resilient Cities
An important part of the trade fair will be discussions on how new technologies can help build environmentally resilient cities and municipalities.
POLECO aims to be more than just an exhibition of products and services. It also serves as a platform for building business relationships and exchanging knowledge among companies, local governments, and experts who shape local infrastructure on a daily basis.
