At the exhibition of Ligne Roset Generations, we will present the most renowned designers of Ligne Roset and their works, including:

1. Christian Werner – the special guest of arena DESIGN 2018: Everywhere, 2000, Prado 2014

Born in 1959 in Berlin, after graduating from industrial design in Berlin and Hamburg, he started working as a designer for many companies (Ligne Roset, Jab, Duravit, Rolf Benz) as well as a freelancer. A master of simplicity and balance between appropriate proportions and sophisticated detailing of his works.

2. Pierre Paulin, Pumpkin edition 2008, designed for a private apartment of Claude&Georges Pompidou at the Élysée Palace in 1971.

Pierre Paulin (1927-2009), a French furniture and interior designer who started with ceramics. As a result of a hand injury, he chose to study design at École Camondo (same as Philippe Starck). He found interest in Scandinavian and Japanese design, admired the Eameses and George Nelson, and revolutionized the furniture industry. His experiments dating back to the 1950s, when he used to work for the Thonet company, saw their developments at Artifort and resulted in the creation of the Mushroom Chair in 1960, and later at Ligne Roset which continues to manufacture new editions of his projects.

3. Michel Ducaroy, Togo, 1973

Born in 1925 to a family closely connected to design, he studied at Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts in Lyon. He made many projects based on foam and thermally formable plastics for the rapidly developing industry of the 1960s and 1970s. He is the author of the Togo icon for Ligne Roset.

4. Philippe Nigro: Confluences, 2009, Passe-Passe, 2011

Born in 1975 in Nice, he graduated from Ecole Boulle in Paris and works as a standalone designer and assistant of Michele de Lucchi, the maker of Tolomeo, together with whom he designed new models for Artemide. He makes projects for Ligne Roset, Poltrona Frau, Felicerossi, Danese, Alias, and Nube. In 2010 he won his first award at the Future Classics competition organized by a Polish brand, Comforty. In 2014 Philippe Nigro became the Designer of the Year, a title awarded by Maison d’Objet.

5. R&E Bouroullec: Facett 2005, Clouds 2009, Ploum 2011

Ronan Bouroullec, born in 1971 in Quimper, France. Erwan Bouroullec, born in 1976 also in Quimper, France. Ronan Bouroullec graduated from Ecole Nationale Superienne des Arts Decoratifs (ENSAD) in 1997, while Erwan Bouroullec graduated from Scole Nationale d’Arts in Cergy. They work together in Saint-Denis, in the 10th district of Paris. At the beginning they cooperated with an Italian company, Cappellini. Their projects are carried out by the French company Ligne Roset and the Swiss company VITRA. They make furniture, ceramics and design textiles. Their works have already been exhibited in the Design Museum in London, Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles and Boijmans Museum of Art in Rotterdam.

6. Noe Duchaufour-Lawrence: Ottoman 2010, Cupidon 2016

Born in 1975 in France, he defined his own language of design as neutral, flexible and organic. He studied at Mobilier des Arts Décoratifs’. He works for Ligne Roset, Ceccotti and Zanotta. “A utility item should meet the need without creating another one. At the same time, however, it should be a container of emotions and values” – a language of simplicity of Noe Duchaufour is constantly evolving.

7. Inga Sempre: Lunatique 2006, Moel 2007, Ruche 2010

Born in 1968 in Paris to a family of visual artists. From her early childhood Inga Sempre made drawings, paintings, sculptures and constructed miniature models made of paper glued together. It was a natural choice to go on to study design at a French university (École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle). She learnt to design from world-famous designers, Marc Newson and Andrée Putman, and continued to cooperate with them long after graduating from her studies in 1993. In 2000 she opened her own company where she makes surprising and provocative items. She works for Ligne Roset, Cappellini, Edra and Vitra.

8. Marie Christine Dorner: Phobos 2015, Cover 2017

In 1984 she graduated from the Camondo School in Paris and set off for a round-the-world trip which she finished in Tokyo. She lived there for one year and that determines her inspiration and artistic work. In 1987 she opened her study in Paris. She designs public and private interiors as well as items and furniture for Artelano and Fourniture in France, as well as Scarabat in Spain. Her works have been exhibited in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, in the Georges Pompidou Center in Paris and in the Cartier Foundation in New York. She also gives lectures at the Royal College of Art in London.
